— About us

We're not a travel agency.

We're Bolivians. We live in Santa Cruz. We've walked every route we design — not once, but many times.

— Our story

It started with frustration.

We were tired of watching travellers arrive with itineraries assembled in offices in Lima, Buenos Aires or Madrid — places whose only source on Bolivia was a 2019 travel guide.

Bolivia is hard to plan properly from afar. Hostels close, prices change, roads alter. We plan it with you, from here.

"Every route we design is one we've walked ourselves, with our own money."

Why Bolivia is hard to plan from a distance

Bolivia has a tourism infrastructure that changes faster than any published guide: hostels that open and close with seasons, roads that improve one year and deteriorate the next, communities that open ceremony access and communities that close it, wildlife that concentrates in different locations depending on that specific year's rainfall levels. An external operator selling Bolivia from an office in Europe or North America works with outdated information by definition. The only way to plan Bolivia well is to have someone in the field who was there last month — not three years ago when they last updated their database.

The model we chose — and the one we rejected

There are two tourism models in Bolivia: the volume model, which sells standard packages with wholesale margins and needs 500 clients a year to be viable, and the depth model, which designs individual itineraries with real knowledge and can function with 80–100 carefully chosen travellers a year. We chose the second. It means we cannot serve everyone, that we have a waiting list in high season, and that there are destinations we simply do not offer because we do not have guides with sufficient knowledge to do them honestly. That limitation is part of the product.

What "designed from Santa Cruz" means

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is Bolivia's geographic and logistical hub — two flight hours from every ecosystem in the country, with direct connections to La Paz, Cochabamba, Trinidad, Sucre, and Rurrenabaque. Daihana and LOVEBOLIVIA's operational team are physically in Santa Cruz. When we design a route, we can call the guide who was in Kaa-Iya last week, verify with the Chalalan contact whether the Tuichi is navigable this month, or consult with Abel on the exact state of the roads to the southwest before confirming your itinerary. That proximity is not a slogan — it is the difference between a plan that works and one that looks like it works.

The consultation — the first step you will not skip

We do not accept bookings without a prior consultation. Not because we are difficult, but because without a 45-minute conversation we cannot design anything useful. In that call we ask the questions forms cannot ask: how many days walking before you need a rest day, whether the camera goes in the bag or in your hand, what you left unfinished on your last South America trip. The answers determine whether your route starts in La Paz or Santa Cruz, whether the Chaco is right for you or whether the Pantanal is better, and how many days you need on the altiplano to acclimatise before heading up to the southwest. A form cannot solve that.

— How we work

Three principles. Non-negotiable.

01
Genuinely local
We live in Bolivia. We're not digital nomads or remote consultants. Our guides are from the communities you visit.
02
No catalogues
We don't sell pre-packaged tours. Every itinerary is built from scratch for each traveller, without exception.
03
Radical honesty
If a route isn't right for you, we'll say so. If something won't work on your dates, we say it upfront, not after booking.
